Chia Herb Garden

chia-herb-gardenIf you're interested in starting a small herb garden on a windowsill, or a small area tucked away, that gets plenty of light, the Chia Herb Garden may be right for you.

Short and sweet, The complete Chia Herb Garden kit comes with four 3-inch terra cotta pots, four matching saucers, four plastic saucer liners, four Chia Growing Sponges, six seed packets, six plant markers, instructions, and a few recipes.

Will it give you loads of herbs?  Probably not.  The parsley we grew gave us enough produce for one meal.  The basil grew great, but it's not tough to get a good basil plant sprouting.  One thing to note, is you'll need to add plenty of water daily once the herbs get going. They suck up the water fast when they begin to mature.

These would make a great project for children.  Planting seeds, watching them grow, and eating the results would be fun.  Not too much work involved either.

We still like our aerogarden for growing herbs indoors, and good old sunlight and big pots/in the ground for outside, but the Chia Herb Garden does have it's niche, even if a small one.

Aerogarden Aerogrow Garden Kit

aerogarden-aerogroew.jpeg If you enjoy eating fresh herbs and garden vegetables, but you're limited on space, the AeroGrow AeroGarden Garden Kit is the perfect solution. AeroGrow has designed an aeroponics system capable of growing cherry tomatoes, lettuce, chili peppers, edible flowers, and of course herbs. It basically grows things using hydroponics, or without soil.

Are you limited on natural light? The AeroGarden system solves that problem by incorporating two daylight-spectrum bulbs, preseeded grow pod, nutrients for growing, and a helpful guide complete with delicious recipes.

Along with the growing pod, guide, and lighting system, the AeroGarden includes the following:

A built-in timer which controls when the lights should be turned on and off.
An alarm system which alerts you when it's time to add water or essential nutrients.
A free seed kit.

Here's what one recent reviewer had to say about the AeroGrow AeroGarden Garden Kit.

"I love this product -- no dirt, no bugs and no chance of over-watering! This is very easy to assemble and easy to use. Just add water and a couple of nutrient tablets every two weeks. There's even a light that tells you when you need to do this.

I planted my Gourmet Herbs on June 15 and I was ready to harvest the basil before the fourth of July! If you follow the instructions, there's no way to mess this up. The herbs lasted about six months. My only caution is (and this is noted in the instruction booklet) that the lamps are on about 16 hours a day and they are bright at night. I can close off the bedrooms, so it doesn't bother me.

I highly recommend this product to anyone one who has tried to grow herbs indoors in the past. Aerogarden's customer service team is the best -- they know their stuff and are vary helpful. I had a problem with one of the herb kits and they have really worked to fix the problem."
